When I bought these at my local dance supply store they lasted me almost two months. I decided to buy them online because they were cheaper. They barely lasted me two weeks and I had to jet-glue them like crazy to squeeze out a third week's use. Other girls at my studio have had similar issues with pointe shoes they bought online. I'm not sure why, but the quality is just not up to par with store-bought shoes. Maybe I was just unlucky and got a bad pair, but I definitely learned my lesson and will no longer buy pointe shoes online.

tightsup09/27/2013SO CLOSE TO RIGHT, AND YET...
I have been in these shoes for about three weeks now. I thought they would be the answer to my prayers because I have exactly the type of short, even-length toes they're supposed to be designed for. And up to a point, yes, they break at the right place, not too far back toward my arch as is so often the case. The roll-through demi pointe is smooth as butter, almost too smooth -- no spring at all! But I have two concerns. First, I think that the crown (the height of the box) is too roomy and I am sinking a little as a result. Second, there is just too much depth to the whole shoe, which makes it look sort of baggy, especially around the heel. The fit is good length and width wise (I wear a 7.5 medium street size and I'm in a 4.5 xxx), but there's something a little too floppy about these. I'm going back to my Bloch European Balance (size 5.5, xx) until I can go for a Russian Pointe fitting and get the right combination of low vamp, low crown, low heel and midfoot, springy shank. But I will say, these are very pretty and maybe a meatier foot would look better in them than my bony ones do.

Vydia09/26/2013GOOD SHOE FOR CORRECT FEET.
My feet are exactly the kind of feet these shoes are made for; wide, lower arches, with short, square toes. I would not called them exceptional in many ways except that somehow, they lasted nearly two months. I have not had a shoe last that long since I first began pointe work. The vamp was the best I have found since it is substantially lower than any other shoe I have tried (various Blochs, Capezios, and Gaynors) and thus much better suited for my short toes. My main complaints would be that they break down horribly at the demi-pointe which causes me to knuckle over once they are well broken in. Not painful, but certainly not the greatest for my foot or my lines. Also, the medium shank took rather long to break in and it was rather painful in the beginning. However, if that is the price to pay for a longer lasting shoe, I will make do. On a side note, I was recently fitted and they recommended staying with the Elites.

PrettyInPink02/11/2013GREAT FOR FIRST TIME ON POINTE
This shoe is really good for dancer's who are going on pointe for the first time. I used these for my first pointe class the low vamps makes it easier to roll through to demi pointe. But the shoes put too much satin on the tips, I had to cut the satin off so that way I didn't slip. I also recommend buying the shank in hard

danceforever567807/21/2012PRETTY AND COMFORTABLE!!
I bought these shoes because i always have trouble getting all the way over the box on most all traditional shoes due to my short toes but these were great. As soon as i put them on i was all the way over the box! Also they have a nice broad platform and square box for balancing. I would strongly reccomend these shoes for anyone with short toes and wide, square feet.

megdance07/15/2012LOVE IT!!!
Before I got these pointe shoes I had Capezios and I did not enjoy the way they looked. So I went to find a pair that looked better on my feet. After buying these shoes I felt great about them. They were extremely comfortable and easy to get up onto. I take 3 hours of pointe a week and they have lasted me atleast a month. I love these shoes and definitely would buy them again.

Cora07/05/2012COMFORTABLE SHOES, BUT NOT VERY DURABLE
I have had lots of problems fitting pointe shoes before. I've tried Bloch European Balance, Bloch Aspiration, and Bloch B-Morph, but none of them worked. When I tried on these, I could tell instantly they were great. I have very wide, square feet with basically no arch, and the Elites were designed for feet like that. However, there are a few problems. I use Gellows for toe pads, and I found at first it to be EXTREMELY painful. It felt like someone was hitting my toes with a giant sledgehammer. Repeatedly. The reason I have it 5 stars for comfort, is because I invested in some loose lambs wool, and after padding my toes (particularly my big toe) with that, they were very comfortable. And I could still feel the floor without it being painful.
The only real problem is that they don't last long. After 5 classes (each one 45 minutes) the shank was soft enough that I was going too far over, and it put a lot of strain on my foot, since I was sort of falling out of my pointe shoes. Although the situation is helped a bit by applying some jet glue to the shank, it doesn't completely fix the problem, and only gets me a few more classes before the shoes are dead again. I really can't afford to be buying a brand new pair of pointe shoes once every two weeks or so.
If it weren't for the shank softening so quickly, I would love these shoes. Some people say they don't like the short, square vamp, but if you have wide feet it might just be perfect. I can finally get up and over the box, and I feel like my technique has improved SO much already, because they're great for my feet. Overall, though, I would recommend this to a friend. However, I think the Elites are very specific and only work for certain types of feet. They're not the kind of shoe that can just work great for anyone and everyone. But if you have wide feet, definitely try these. And if you have strong feet, definitely get the hard shank, because the medium shank broke so quickly for me.

These shoes are amazingly comfortable. They were my first pair of pointe shoes, and I was terrified because I had heard the horror stories of some girls coming out of class with bleeding feet as a result of their pointe shoes. These shoes were incredibly comfortable to dance in and I experienced no pain at all. They do wear out very quickly - mine were dead in about two weeks of use and I was only on pointe for about 30 minutes every week when I first started pointe.

I love these shoes because they are a strong shoe. Compared to all the other shoes I have, these have a completely flat box, so it's easier to balance on. I also love the way they hug my arches, it's very flattering. They are a comfy shoe too. I love the low vamp on them; it's easier to demi point. The color of them is very beautiful and whimsical. I have many pairs of these shoes.

This was not my favorite pair of pointe shoes. I got them because they looked like a good shoe for a dancer with wide feet, but these were very wide. I usually get a 5x in Grishkos but the 4x was too wide in this shoe. The shank didn't break-in until the box was broken. They lasted a long time though! I dance on pointe two times a week and these lasted me months!

I wear Elites and they're great. They're perfect for people with wide feet. Mine haven't lasted too long though, only about 4 months and I'm a beginner. And they are a bit on the high price side, but other than that, they're amazing.

I must say, for me, these are excellent shoes. They are perfect for my wide feet, short toes, and high, strong arches. I actually had to have them fit a little smaller that my Elite demi-pointes because my smaller foot slipped down, but that didn't cause me any problems. I will be picking up my second pair in a hard shank this week. I only wish I could buy them from Discount Dance, but my XXXXX width isn't available!

Stephanie11/10/2008 San Diego, Ca,BEST SHOES! LUV THEM!
These shoes look very pretty on my feet, but they break way too fast! They do say that it features their super shank and that it is not pre-arched, so it should last longer. I tried the Bloch Serenades, Freed Classic Professional,Gaynor Mindens, and finally these. I just started pointe about a year ago, and I'm not having the best of luck. The quickest these shoes have broken was in three days. The longest they lasted were about two weeks. The few things I like about this shoe is that it has a wide box for super wide feet like mine. And, you feel very close to the floor. Even though I break them very fast, I still get the medium shank because once you break the hard shanks in, they feel very funny. If you have the same story I do, I recommend special ordering this shoe with a double shank. I tried this also, and lasted me 3 months, which is pretty long for strong feet like mine. I do recommend these shoes only for people with wide feet and toes with normal heels :D

These must be made for wide feet because I have wide feet and I've had Fouettes in 4x, 2007s in 3x, but these I wore in 2x. I'd recommend getting them fitted for your first pair. Or order a wider width and use toepads if it's too wide.

Paula06/23/2008 Baltimore, Md,A GOOD BUY
I have a very wide forefoot; I wear 5 XXXXX. Before finding these, I used so many brands that all pinched my feet, making them look sickled. With these, however, my feet are so much more comfortable and my arch has been able to improve tremendously. The way they break-in creates a nice line through your foot. They are noisier than most pairs, but if you remember to roll through and use your plie, it can be minimized. For padding, I use both gel tips on my big toes and jr. Ouch Pouches. Definitely worth buying, these will be my next pair as well!
People don't understand how this shoe works! I wrote a review before saying how bad the shoes were but I never gave them a chance! They flatter wide feet like mine. They are beautiful and actually made my feet stronger!!!! I used these shoes to help my feet because I have a low arch. They did wonders! I wrote in my last review that the shank broke. The shank didn't break. I just found out that they were a roll through model of pointe shoe! You have to use these shoes for a while to appreciate them. The only bad thing was that when they do break, they make you look like your toes are coming out of the box! All in all these are great shoes!!!

Kelin06/06/2008HAVEN'T DANCED, BUT LIKE THEM
Now I must say that I haven't danced in these yet, but I do like them. They cause a lot of pressure for your big toe, but if you wear Bunhead's gel tip toe covers, it solves the problem. Bloch's Ouch Pouch are also very good to wear over the gel tip.
Anyway, these have very nice arches, and are about the only shoe I could fit into because of my crazy wide feet. They are already fitting to my arch, so I don't think they'll last terribly long, but long enough for a couple months.

These shoes are alright. I was wearing the Grishko 2007, but decided that I wanted a wide box. The whole shoe is wider, not just the box (I had to go a width smaller, and they're still baggy. After the box ends, there's only satin. Most pointe shoes have a harder section there for support, but these don't. The hard shanks are not very hard. After one class, my right shoe was already dead!

Mom04/16/2008LAST ONLY 3 WEEKS
I have been buying these shoes for my daughter for a couple of years now. She has wide "Shrek" feet and these are the only ones that provide an ideal fit. At first, they lasted for 2-3 months, but as her load of "pointe" time grew, so did the "wear" time shorten. Last pair--the medium shank went out after a week and the box died two weeks later.
Great shoes for beginners and mid-level dancers, but if you are doing advanced point 10+ hrs a week, prepare to buy a new pair every 3 weeks or so. Hard shank seems to last a little longer, but still, if there's any other shoe style that fits you, switch!

Meg03/24/2008SMOOTH STABLE SHOE
I have Egyptian wide toes. I wear a size 9.5 street shoe. My feet are semi-wide, and my heel is not narrow. Basically, my feet look like blocks. I have a strong arch, but it is not particularly high. I haven't been on pointe in several years and I was overwhelmed by all the new pointe shoes. I was using an old ratty pair of Bloch Signature Rehearsals in a 6.5 D. They were complete mush, but at least they fit. I hate the way the material in the wings and box of the Rehearsals wrinkled, but that may be because I wore them way past their useful shelf life. I had a terrible time finding shoes that fit. Most shoes I tried seemed to pinch my toes together. I tried on about fifteen different pairs of pointe shoes (Grishko Maya, Capezio Glisse, Bloch Axiom, Bloch Serenade) before I found the Elites in a 6.5 XXX. They are perfectly adequate. I watered the wings and they were pretty well-formed to my feet by the end of one barre. The only problem I have is that you have to work very hard to evenly divide your weight when on pointe. The Elites tend to push your weight toward your big toe, which can be a bit painful and off-putting. I think of it just as a reminder to roll through the middle of my foot, though. Off pointe, they are easy to balance in with nice lateral support. Make no mistake, these shoes make your feet work, but they are all-around good rehearsal shoes.

These were my very first pair of pointes, and they were pretty good. They were super easy to break-in (I got the hard shank) but consequently did not last a long time. They really complimented my lower arches, and it was easy to roll up and onto my box. The only thing I didn't like about them is how quickly they died. For my first pair, they were dead in a couple of weeks!

I got these shoes when I started pointe and I hated them right off the start! They would not break-in at the top, only at the bottom which made my feet look fat and ugly! I would break them in, in my first class with them, so they would be ugly for the rest of the times I wore them!

Erika09/23/2007 Port Allen, La,MY FAVORITE!
These shoes are my favorite! I had them last year, and I LOVE how they fit my foot. I have a VERY wide, semi-short foot, short toes, and an EXTREMELY narrow heel (size 3.5 XXXXX) They do squeak, but that's no problem. The toe of the box is very flat and wide, making it easy to stay en pointe. They are uncomfortable on the big toe, but I just say use more padded pads than Ouch Pouches. I just wish they had my size box on this website :[

I got these after going through four Capezio Contemporas shoes. I broke in Contemporas way too easily and they got soft fast, so I wanted to look for a shoe that would last long. I heard that Grishko's were good so I tried them. At the store where I got fitted for these, they didn't have my exact size because the one I have now is a tiny bit big, and the size lower was a bit too tight. I have to admit I hated them at first because I was used to breaking in shoes in just one class. After I broke them in, they were amazing! They give me a lot of support and they last longer.

These shoes are great! I was fitted for these when I was getting my first pair of pointe shoes, but didn't get them. That was 7 months ago, I have them now, and ordered them from here. It's easy to stay on the box, GREAT for balancing, and turning is so easy! My only complaint is a sore big toe nail. But other than that, these are the best shoes I've ever had.

These are my first pointe shoes. They are VERY NOISY, but out of all of them that I tried on, these were the ones that fit to my foot the best. (I have very thin heels, then just before the toes and up, are wider.) When I try not to be loud, the box makes loud squeaks and does not sound graceful.

I really love this shoe! It's comfortable and looks very beautiful on your feet. At first I had the medium shank. They were dead in a little over a month. Then I tried the hard shank and they lasted much longer! I have been dancing for 8 years (I am 13) and am very serious about dance. These are probably my favorite shoes ever. Perfect for wide feet and short toes, like me. The only downsides are that (a)they're loud when you're doing grande jetes/grande assembles and (b)they're hard to break in. At first I couldn't even go up on them.
But they're very comfortable and they were the first pair of shoes I did an effortless triple pirouette in. THANK YOU!!!

I'm like in love with these shoes but they don't work on a lot of feet. The sizing is also kind of weird for my size 7 feet because the 4 is way too big and the 3.5 is too small. Also the heel slips off easily. But the arch is very flattering, the vamp is a perfect length, and the box is really nicely shaped.

I wear Grishko 2007 in 5.5 4x and they've just been way too tapered for my foot (I have relatively square toes).
Is there a way you can tell me what size I'll be in this shoe?
Ps my street shoe size is 7-7.5
In style 2007 Suggested Fitting:
Women order 2-2? sizes smaller than street size
ELITE Suggested Fitting:
Women order 3 sizes smaller than street size
This information is shown as a guide only and not a guarantee. Actual fitting may vary. - DDS Customer Service (09/23/2013)
I believe that would translate into a 4 1/2 or a 5. Probably a 5. When in doubt I always order a 1/2 size bigger because bigger is better than smaller since you can always add more padding. - Vydia (09/26/2013)
golden 08/17/2013 Utah Age: 35 to 44 Size relative to Bloch European Balance
I recently went from a 5 xxx to a 5.5 xx in the Bloch European Balance, on a shoe fitter's advice (I was sinking in the wider 5). However, I have a textbook "Giselle" type foot (even length toes, wide metatarsal, high arch, narrow heel), with quite short toes, and I feel like the vamp on the Bloch is just a weensy bit too high in the 5.5. Someone recommended I try the Grishko Elite, and it sounds like a dream shoe for my foot, but none of the local stores carry it. Can you give me some sense of whether, based on the "three sizes down from street size" (I wear a 7.5 US ladies), I should order a 4.5 xx as the equivalent length/width to the Bloch I'm in now?
A medium "XX" in the Bloch Balance European is equivalent to the "XX" in the Grishko Elite. The 3 sizes down is the recommend fit for the Elite. However, we strongly discourage not being fit in person for a new pointe shoe. We do recommend that if you purchase this shoe without being sized that you make an appointment at a local store or with an instructor to ensure the right fit was purchased before wearing them. Even a slightly off size can risk permanent foot and ankle damage. - DDS Customer Service (08/19/2013)
I would recommend going with a 5. I am a size 7, but my feet are growing so I got a 4/12 with just a bit of growing room. A 4.5 may be fine, but I am one of those people who always would rather go bigger than smaller! - Vydia (09/26/2013)

This shoe is meant for even-length toes and is complete with a short vamp. - DDS Customer Service (07/01/2013)
No. They would be terrible. They are designed for shorter toes all of the same length. The vamp is very low and the box is not at all tapered. - Tightsup (09/28/2013)
My daughter has tapered toes, but likes the thicker gel pads. She wears the XX width and they work beautifully for her. She switched from Bloch Sonata two years ago and much prefers the Grishko Elite. - Ddancemom (11/21/2013)

We do not accept maker request. - DDS Customer Service (04/01/2013)
I am pretty sure the answer is no. Unfortunately, I have never heard of DDS accepting maker requests; they don't with Freeds at least. - Vydia (09/27/2013)
I have a #4 box in Gaynor Minden. but my width is medium. The length of my toe between my big toe and 2nd toe is about 4 to 4 and 1/2 cm in length. So I think I have a high vamp. I have greek type feet . Also my street shoe size is 8. Also I have a medium to high arch. Im wondering if this would be a good point shoe in my case? Or would you suggest something else? Would prefer to get Grishko.
I am in no way a fitting expert but from past experience, I would much more recommend trying the Grishko 2007s. These are more for square toes and low arches. The 2007s are a much more versatile shoe and I imagine they would be a much better choice. - Vydia (09/26/2013)
