DancerCO1407/12/2014HATED THEM!
For my summer intensive this year, I am required to wear Freed Studios. I went to my local dance store and got them professionally fitted to find the size that fit the best for my feet. (I have street size 7 feet, long Egyptian toes, not meaty feet, high arches) However, they still felt a little weird and a little uncomfortable. My fitter brought out this giant basket of accessories to try to see if any of them would make the shoes more comfy. This was one of the items. I was originally super excited because I remembered having a gel cushion at the tip of my 1st pair of pointe shoes (Bloch's European Balence), which made the pressure on my big toe not as bad.
As I hadn't bought them yet, I couldn't cut them to size, so I can't say if that helps them fit better or what.
However, I can tell you that they were awful. First of all, the gel is very hard and not even a tiny bit squishy. I was expecting the nice, squishy gel like in Bunheads' spacers, and these were not it. Also, when I rose en pointe with the cushions in the bottoms of my shoes, the pain and pressure on my big toe was 5 times worse than it would had been without them.
I would not recommend these to anyone, especially if you already struggle with big toe pressure. :(

ChristineV06/21/2014NT TOO BAD
These cushions are fairly thin, so you'll need to supplement with some lamb wool or something. However, I have very tapered Egyptian toes, so en pointe my big toe tends to take most of the pain, and these really helped. I do keep my toenails short, but sometimes they dig into my feet anyway, and these were great for that. However, they're hard to get into the box even when cut down and move out of place too easily.

These toe pads were very uncomfortable and just took up space. I got these just because i was trying to find a different toe pad than what i was using and these seamed cheep. I would not recommend this to someone trying to find a toe pad that is comfortable.

Anna211/15/2012PERFECT FOR THE MINIMALIST
This is a great pad. I used to wear just this in my pointe shoes and although I've switched to the Gaynor Minden fitting kit since then, these still are awesome. They are huge, though. You'll have to cut it down a lot. And unless you're hardcore I would suggest using some lamb's wool with it. xD

I thought this would be a great thing because they were cheap and my toe pads aren't as thick as i would like them to be. I cut them to the size of my box (and they dont cut well AT ALL) and put them in (which in incredibly difficult). One they were in they wouldn't stay and would sometimes move around while i dance. Overall they would be fantastic if they could cut, and would stay.

My old toe pads(gellows pillows for pointe) were wearing out, but not quite destroyed enough to buy entirely new pads(I am in college, paying for all my own dance stuff). Just adding these to my worn-to-bits gellows took all of the pain out of my big toe. Yes, they're bigger than the box; cut them to size. They slip around if you put them gel side to gel side, but powder fixes that. All around useful and comfortable!

These cushions are amazing! After having bruised toenails for a loooong time I finally do not have them...with the help of Bloch's small gel tip. Ideal for people with long second toe!

Jackie02/19/2008THESE ARE NOT PILLOWS OR CUSHIONS FOR ME
These were not cushions at all. They are small, do not stay in place, and irritate the foot.

I love these because I have bad toe nails, so I put these in the tips and I don't get bruised toe nails.

Has anyone figured out some way to glue these in place? .
I've tried tape, glue gun, and jet glue but nothing seems to bond to the gel pad itself.
I do apologize, we do not have that information. - DDS Customer Service (09/23/2013)
a tiny bit of liquid rubber cement. Be careful, if you use too much it can get all messy so only use a small amount in the center. - Acrojazzarina (11/04/2013)
