Alhambra,CAI would only recommend for emergency reattachment or I still recommend sewing for long term use because I still find sewing stronger

02/03/2017I ordered snaps on a Sunday night, and they arrived by Friday; fairly quick in delivery. They came in a nice and secure package, with instructions. Although the instructions didn't go into detail, it gave the basic understandings. It took me a little while longer to do the first snap, but once I finished the first, the others were easy. It does involve some strength with plyers, but I'm 13 and completed the task fairly easily. I was kind of disappointed that they didn't go through both the elastic and ribbon, but I'd take doing 4 snaps total on a shoe in less than 15 minutes opposed to over an hour of sewing. In total it probably took 30 minutes for everything to be competed. I'm impressed with this product, and I'd recommend it to anyone to purchase. Thank you SNAPS!!

07/13/2015The only reason I got these is because shoes died on me.THE DAY OF SWAN LAKE. I did not have time to sew new shoes .So my shoe mistress tried these on my russian pointe sapfirs. The first time the snaps snapped in half. The second half, we got them on and they were orange.During part of my corps work, the snaps came off, and everything went flying. I ended up JET GLUING my elastics and ribbons on. My advice is always have an extra pair, and sew.

01/22/2015I'm not much of a sewer, so these snaps were really great. They were easy to use and held on tight.
I did try one out for practice before using them on my pointe shoes and do have to be careful not to mismatch them when pushing them together cause they can pinch you afterwards. So after doing that, they worked great for my pointe shoes!

09/02/2013After reading reviews I was very careful about placement and I really do like these. Yes, you can see them, but for class shoes they are perfectly fine. They stay on better than I thought they would. A couple of tips... You really have to make sure you are lining them up correctly or else you will have to start over and they are not easy to remove once you bend the prongs. Also, cover the pliers with a bit of toe tape before using them to attach these if you want to avoid pulling or marking your satin. I hate sewing, so these were very helpful to me. I am not a professional, so they are perfect for my needs.

06/12/2013It takes more time to properly install these than to sew. If you aren't careful, the inside points will snag your tights or cause blisters if you don't wear tights over your feet. I have a different setter I used to set a pair of these for a friend since she had trouble with pliers, but getting the special tools best for these is a bit of an investment (about $150) for people who don't use them otherwise (I'm a designer and so use the tools often for other things).
Several other people have been happy with these snaps, so don't take this review as the only one to listen to. You may be happy in the end. I wasn't, and my friend wasn't, but you may be. Can't hurt to try with an old pair around the house.

05/21/2013I use these for the side ribbons on my pointe. I love them. So easy
I would not suggest that these be used at the heel of the pointe shoe. I tried that before and it gave me blisters because of how snug the shoe is supposed to fit on the foot. But for the side ribbons and or elastics - it is a wonderful option

01/23/2013These are pretty easy to put on. I struggled with the first couple that i put on, but then it got easier. You do NEED pliers to put them on, but any pliers will work. i didnt use the ones DDS was reccomending.
I can't give a rate on durability, because i havn't had mine for a while, but a friend of mine has had hers for a long time and hasn't had any problems with them coming off. they seem secure to me.
They blend in fairly well, but they are still noticable on my Gaynors. Some dance teachers may want you to simply sew your shoes for performances becuase you can see them a little.
Another thing is that i could feel them in my shoes. It isn't teribble, but it is slightly less comfortable than just sewing them, but i would buy these again anyway! good product to have in your dance bag for emergencies as well.

08/29/2012I bought these to try them out because i always have a hard time sewing my pointe shoes and this was the best thing ever invented! Instead of me wasting about 2 to 3 hours trying to sew everything and get everything perfect I tried the No-Sews and it worked! The hold is more durable and my ribbon and elastic isn't coming off! I would recommend everyone to do this instead of sewing!
Also you can't even tell you have them on you can't feel it, nor see it.
It is truly and amazing product!

Washingtonville, New York,I am a teenage pointe dancer and I got these for my third pair of pointe shoes. Well, these snaps are the reason I got my fourth pair of pointe shoes. They shifted while being snapped and ruined the shoes with a big hole. My teacher also informed me that they were not professional enough for when my company performed at Lincoln Center. I do not recommend these to any age dancer.

06/22/2011These snaps are great. I just used them for class and they are perfect! They work on both the ribbon and elastic for pointe shoes. The elastic takes a little bit more work to get it securely through, but its worth it. I used them with Bloch Sonatas and the colors is a pretty close match.

06/13/2011Overall great product but the only problem I had was when I would clamp it together it would bend and get messed up or not go on strait and poke my foot.

California,I discovered these a few months ago, and am in love! They are quick when I don't have time to sew my pointe shoes, ESPECIALLY if a ribbon comes unsewn in rehearsal!
To use: fold a little big of the end of the ribbon over (so it doesn't fray after wear) and put it where you would normally sew it, then stick the pointy snap through the outside of the shoe and through the ribbon. Then put the other end on the pointy part and use the pliers to squeeze the snaps together. I normally use 2 per ribbon for better hold.
I still sew my elastics, since my heels are really sensitive, but for ribbons it's great! The snaps don't rub or anything!

Mason, Ohio,I found them to work great on the ribbons but the wide elastics seem too thick and I could not get them to work. I was not on a seam and just using a single thickness on the pointe shoe.

02/16/2010As a dance teacher and artistic director who is open to new ideas, these are terrific! My dancers can now spend more time dancing (and focusing on academics) instead of sewing. They work great and look professional- you can't even see them from 3' away. I would recommend these to beginners through professionals. I only wish I had thought of it!

01/31/2010This is great if you are not an aspiring professional and if ballet is just a hobby for you. However, if any student of mine ever walked into a class with her ribbons and elastics attached this way, I would send her home. You should always attach your ribbons and elastics in a professional looking manner if you attend a professional school or if you intend to audition for a professional program.

Texas,These things are so easy. I use them on my pointe shoes and ballet shoes. One time my pointe shoe ribbon fell off and I was able to fix it on the spot. They are unnoticeable from stage and you can't even feel it while dancing. I highly recommend this!
