this shoe has a flattering fit and is fairly durable. The value/ price is a little off considering it is a canvas shoe and canvas shoes wear out quickly.

Rosette07/26/2015GOOD BUT COULD BE BETTER
This is an attractive shoe on the foot, and for a while was the only shoe I could wear reasonably comfortably as it has a very wide front sole patch under the metatarsals. (the small teardrop shaped sole patch the vast majority of split sole flats is very unstable to my foot, and actually causes me pain). The sole itself is very, very thin, though. I need a bit more protection from the floor, so I've since moved onto the Bloch Pro-Elastic, which isn't as pretty, but has the perfect sole.

TweedyBird05/11/2015REALLY NICE QUALITY, RUNS SMALL
I do agree with other reviewers in that these shoes run small. I wear a size 9 street shoe, and I am a size 7C in bloch pointe shoes, and I ordered a size 9.5B, which fit almost perfectly.
Aside from the weird sizes, these shoes are fantastic! They fit my feet very nicely, and the small stretch of elastic on the inside of the sole is genius. The binding for the drawstring is also elastic, which I love. I also like where the leather sole ends in relation to my arch and the end of my foot. It just makes a really nice line.
One thing I should note is that there is a felt/foam lining on the inside over each part of the split sole.
Honestly, I have been wearing sansha pros for a while and I could not be happier to have decided to switch. Grishko flat shoes are a really good investment.

Kamiyajaz12/11/2014BEST SLIPPERS EVER
I love these slippers, they are so nice and flat at the balls of my feet. My other slippers were so bulky. They do however run small. I wear a 6.5 street shoe and I ordered a 7 thinking I would be safe but had to send them back for a 7.5 and still think an 8 would fit a bit better. I'm hoping they stretch some.

flgrlhev09/23/2014MY FAVORITE BALLET SHOES FOR 10+ YEARS
I've tried several different brands and makes of ballet shoes over the years. I bought my first pair of these probably close 10 years ago at a specialty dance shop. They are so worn out and filthy that I could barely figure out what type of ballet shoes they were, but they still do not have holes (I didn't take ballet for a several of those years, so they weren't being used constantly#. After figuring out the exact make of Grishko by the 360 degree views on this site, I was finally able to figure out that these are the ones and I ordered them in a 7. The size was a total guess since they are too worn out to know but I went by my street shoe size. I guessed wrong - but I am still going to wear them in hopes that they stretch out a bit. I would say order a half size up for sure! My big toes could possibly pop holes through this pair. If they do, I will still go for this exact ballet shoe again but in a size 7.5. My favorite features are the heel cushion #it's not exactly in the right place on my heel but that's because of the size I ordered being off a little), the elastic in the center sole of the shoe, the vamp not being too high, and the durability of the shoe itself. The color of the shoes are a little too light for my taste but they get dirty fast anyway being canvas. I would certainly recommend if you are torn about what ballet shoe to purchase.

These are truly wonderful slippers. I dance 6 days/week for many hours daily, and these shoes have lasted me 7 months, and I usually go though flat ballet slippers in about 2-3 months. The canvas they're made of is very thick and sturdy, and they are a marvelous pale rose color, almost whiteish. Wonderful shoes, quite wonderful.

I love these shoes! They look gorgeous on my feet and make my arch look amazing even when I'm standing. I have very tapered feet so Grishkos are always great. The elastic in the arch is nice, and I also like the padding in the heel. The only problem I had with these shoes is that they are very white, which is pretty, but after wearing them for a week they turned gray (They got dirty on stage floors. They might have stayed cleaner on studio floors). They also run a little small but I personally like having my shoes fit tight. If you want a more roomy fit it would be a good idea to order a half size larger than your street shoe size. Overall, I am loving these shoes and will probably order the same ones when these wear out.

AlexandriaBailerina12/03/2013WONDERFUL SHOES!
These shoes make my feet look amazing! I have high arches, and the elastic really accentuates it. The canvas is very durable and the ballet pink is a lovely color and doesn't break the tights line. The only bone I have to pick with this shoe is that it is tight in the toe. I have tapered toes and these shoes do not mold to my toe shape making me have to adjust myself sometimes when I go onto releve.

Anna211/18/2013BEAUTIFUL SHOE, BUY ONE HALF SIZE UP!
I ordered this in my street shoe size (I'm a solid 6.5) and it was very tight (my big toe was pressing harder than I'd like against the edge of the shoe). I returned and purchased another one half size up and it fit perfectly :) I also ordered the C width - I'm regular width in street shoes but wider in pointe shoes and C feels good.
The shoe is a beautiful pale pink color and looks gorgeous on my feet.

adultbunhead11/02/2013SIZING IS TRICKY, BUT A GREAT SHOE...
The sizing on this shoe is tricky. I ended up going to my local dance shop and having them fit me because I just couldn't get a handle on it. The man helping me said that Grishko's are often hard to fit and there really isn't a hard and fast rule like "half size smaller than street" or "full size larger than street" it kind of depends on WHAT size you actually wear.
My street size is generally a 10...occasionally I wear a 9.5.
Based on other reviewers, I ordered a 10.5 B... when I tried them on, it seemed fine, so I sewed my elastic, then realized it was WAY TOO LONG! The heel pad is pretty far forward and the shoe just doesn't come up very far on the back of the foot, so it seemed okay, but I could easily put two fingers in at the heel when putting them on, and my foot had too much room in there when I started dancing... but it was pretty. After trying on various combinations of lengths and widths, I got a 9.5C #probably could have done a 9.5D in retrospect, but they're fine once my feet warm up#. I wore them to class today, and LOVED them. The front sole is extremely flat and I found it easier to balance and turn. The sides and back ARE low... but that's just the shoe... it makes it look really sleek and they are NOT coming off.
The color is very light compared to other slippers, so be aware, but they don't look any dirtier after one class than my other slippers have. The soles are stitched on the outside, so hopefully that holds up over time. We'll see.

NuttyCracker10/26/2013TRUE TO SIZE AND LOOK LIKE A GREAT SHOE
So I have been searching for a great canvas shoe. I have worn Sansha pros for 15 years and love them except that they are very round at the toes and I have tapered toes, and so they bother my bunions sometimes. So after trying Mirella, Bloch and Capezio canvas slippers and hating them, I ordered these Grishkos. I read the reviews and many said they run small, and so I ordered a half size up. Well let me tell you, they are way too big. I wear a 9.5 - 10 normal width. So I ordered a 10.5 C. Too long and too wide. I should have stuck with Grishko's sizing advice to order your normal size. A 9.5 B or C or a 10B will probably fit just fine, as I would expect. I will post an update when I receive them!
Of course I can only comment on their comfort and durability just from trying them on and looking at them. But then again, as a professional I know a good/bad shoe when I see it. These feel like they will be very comfortable - I am a little nervous about the unlined inner sole and bunchy elastic for conforming the arch, but I think they will be fine. That will also depend on your individual foot - I have a high arch and so I probably won't feel the elastic. If you have a flatter foot, it might bother you. They look and feel very well made and durable. Time will tell!

These are my first pair of canvas slippers... I've always purchased leather before... but I really like these slippers. They're molding, and seem to hold up well so far. I only have two minor complaints... #1. They run a little small. I'm an 8.0 in American street shoes, so just to be safe, I ordered an 8.5 but even that is still a little too small. It just fits. If you want a roomier shoe, then I would suggest ordering a full size up. #2. I really like the padding on the sole of the shoe, but I wish they had extended the heel padding to cover more of the heel. Other than that, I'm happy with this shoe and would recommend it.

Cecelia02/11/2013GOOD SHOES, BUT ELIMINATE THE HEEL PAD
These are pretty good shoes. The color is nice and I haven't gotten any holes yet. I love love the wide forefoot pad, it is the main reason I purchased these shoes. Turns and balancing is easier in these shoes, and no painful lumps or bumps.
There are a few cons- the sole patches need to be brushed pretty much every time I dance, as the nap gets smoothed out very quickly and I don't have a good traction for leaps on the marley floor. Also, the elastic in the arch pulls the heel patch off of your heel to under your arch- would be better to eliminate it entirely.

This shoe looks great on and there really isn't any bunching except slightly around tapered toes. They are very light in color, more cream than pink and they absolutely run small. I am usually in between a full and half size in street shoes so I ordered the next full size up and they are perfect.

I have worn these slippers for at least 2 years. Each pair lasts for about 3 months of dancing 15 hours a week. My feet measure almost 9-1/2 B in standard women's shoe sizing, and I prefer to wear the 10B in this ballet slipper. I could wear a 9-1/2C, but the my big toe wears through the shoe quicker. For me, this slipper has no uncomfortable lumps, and they wash well.

I love this shoe however I am a size 4 in kids and have very narrow feet so I thought that a 4.5 would be a good fit but it absolutely is not, I need to almost order a whole size and a half bigger (5.5) so that it will even fit on my foot. These shoes are great and I love them but make sure to order them way bigger than what you think.

I just got these in the mail and have already done some dancing in these. They are so much more comfortable and conform to the foot better than any other canvas shoe I've worn so far. I love them if you can love a shoe. I totally recommend these. You can tell that the canvas is tighter woven than others and may add to the durability of the shoe.

Mattie01/11/2010 Slc, Ut,BEAUTIFUL SHOES
I love this shoe! I was reluctant to try it at first, just because the elastic seemed gimmicky. What it does do is flatter your foot and seems to make it look more pointed. I like how the vamp seems lowish on the shoe, and it is shaped to conform the foot nicely. No lumps under the metatarsal at all, and the suede soles are larger and much more comfortable in demi pointe position than say the Sansha shoes.
Be aware, that my street size is an exact 6 in almost every brand of normal shoes, but in this Grishko shoe, I wear a size 6.5. I feel that Grishko runs a half size small. Also, I am a medium width in most pointe shoes and regular shoes, in Grishko 2007 pointe shoes, I am a XXX width, but in this shoe I am wearing a "B" width. Half size up from street shoe, and a width down from what I would normally expect.

Andrea09/08/2009 Colorado,NEARLY PERFECT!
I wanted something with a low vamp and heel, and I liked the idea of the elastic in the arch. I really had a pretty good experience with this shoe, it fit well; I followed the sizing chart. The elastic in the arch was indeed very flattering. I can't say it strengthened my arch, but I didn't really test that part. The drawbacks were the bunchiness in the toe whenever I pointed, but I am very picky about minor things like that, just me. Also, the leather sole felt so huge! And it was thick so the edge caught on the floor every once in a while.
It was very comfortable, and pretty flattering altogether, besides the bunchiness. But it wore out in 6 months, and I only dance once a week. It was all around a nice shoe, and I would order it again if it weren't for the Sansha Pro,which fits in every way perfectly.

Mammaren06/27/2009 Texas,AMAZING!
OK, to be fair, I am using these shoes to protect my feet during my Aikido practice on cement. BUT, I am a dancer, and I would use these shoes for dance as well. I chose these shoes because I wanted to be able to feel the floor while protecting my feet for my martial arts practice outdoors off of mats. I've worn other Grishkos and have loved them. This slipper fits like a glove and moves beautifully. The padding in the heel is awesome and really makes a difference.
I also tried the Capezio "Juliet" slipper and was very surprised by the difference in quality and fit. I have a wide foot and this slipper manages to make my foot look graceful. The Capezio was tight and looked sloppy on my foot. Spend the extra and get a better shoe with the Grishko.

Lewisism01/10/2009AHA...PAIN EXPLAINED
OK, I LOVED these shoes - made my feet look really pretty, didn't slip during turns, and just felt good and supportive. However, after a few months of wear I gradually developed severe pain on my sole under my 3rd and 4th toes (mainly after jumps and turns in class). I checked my shoes and sadly realized that there is a slight hump right in the spot where I'm having pain. This may be a very supportive feature for some foot shapes, but not mine. Switched to a different brand of shoe and, voila, pain gone! If you are having foot pain, don't forget to investigate your shoes - even if you love them.

Claire02/03/2007 Missouri,
These shoes are way over rated. The color is very weird and looks just terrible when they get even a little dirty. There is a lot of extra toe fabric that makes you look like you aren't pointing your foot and the top is cut so that it always looks like you are rolling in, even if you're not. These would be nice if they were just for class and your toes are literally all the same length. They are amazingly comfy though.

We do not suggest you use a different pair of shoes as a reference point. The sizing suggestion for this shoe is the same as street shoe sizing, possibly a half size larger. We strongly urge all dancers to be fitted for a specific pointe shoe by a professional before purchasing their first pair of pointe shoes as well as when switching brands. I encourage you to contact a local dance shop and request an appointment to be fitted for the Grishkos. - DDS Customer Service (01/05/2015)

Yulia 10/30/2013 Age: 17 or under What size would I order?
Hi, I wear a size 6 in Grishko 2007's and an 8.5 in regular US size. I hear these shoes are a little inconsistent with sizing, which size would I order?
The sizing recommendation from the manufacturer is to order your street shoe size. - DDS Customer Service (11/04/2013)
Last time I got my foot measured, I was a solid 6.5. I ordered that size and it was too tight. Went with a half size up and the fit was perfect. I'll mention, though, that I ordered the C width; I'm regular width in street shoes, but wider widths in pointe shoes. Had I ordered the wider width I may have been fine. - Anna2 (01/05/2014)
These letters refer to the width of the shoe. B width will be slightly tapered and more narrow, C is an average width, and D will be wider in the toe area. - DDS Customer Service (10/04/2013)
The letters are the width. The higher the letter, the wider the shoe - Mdancer12 (03/23/2014)
On these shoes, one side there was a piece of elastic, but it wasn't sewn to the other side like so.
On most split sole ballet slippers the elastic is only attached at the heels. You would need to cross the elastic and sew them at the arch of the foot based on how tight you would like them. - DDS Customer Service (09/10/2013)
Yes. You sew the elastics on the highest part of your arch on the inside of your shoe towards the top where the drawstring comes around - Mdancer12 (03/23/2014)
balletntapgirl 07/30/2013 Burbank, Ca, Usa Age: 17 or under Is the bunching in the arch annoying?
I'm torn between this shoe and the Grisko "Ultimate". I have a friend who wears Ultimates because she says the bunching on this shoe is really annoying. However, I read some reviews that made it seem as though it flatters the arch, which I need.
The performance series, with it's flat panel arch will show a sleeker design for a flattered arch. The ultimate, though a great shoe, will not assist in the look of your arch due to it's construction. - DDS Customer Service (08/01/2013)
These shoes have the elastic which helps tighten the arch. I don't have particularly bendy feet but I could see how feet with better arches could create bunchiness in these shoes. Regardless, I think it depends on your feet and you just have to try it out. - Tweedybird (05/11/2015)
