KLove11/10/2019GREAT RIBBON!
I have used Stretch Ribbon for years. I love this brand. The color is soft and blends well with many pointe shoe brands (Block, Russian, and Capezio are a few). This brand is comfortable and easy to tie. It provides plenty of support. I have been on pointe for 6 years and will not consider using regular ribbon. I have never had trouble with raveling... I heat both ends after cutting with a lighter. Happy Dancing! Klove

I have been dancing on pointe for 4 years now. I bought these thinking they would be good for my tendinitis. I was VERY wrong. As soon as I tied my points shoes with these, I noticed small holes forming where I tied the knots. I didn't think anything of it really. Then, I went up on pointe and I did not feel supported at all. I felt like my ribbons were not tight enough. So I retired my shoe as tight as I could. It did not help at all. I have used many stretch ribbons and I have never felt so uncomfortable in my pointe shoes. I feel like I can't even go on pointe properly because I don't have any support on my ankles.

liberty933101/25/2018SUPER HELPFUL!
After dancing en pointe for 3-4 years and struggling, these ribbons were super helpful to find!
The tops of my ankles are not very flexible, so I had been struggling to get all the way onto my box. After finding my Russian Pointe Rubins I began to do better getting over the box, but I still struggled a little bit. These ribbons are the perfect solution!
Great for those who feel restricted with regular ribbons
Much easier to tie, and have STAY tied
Much more comfortable, especially if you have tendon or ligament issues
Create a smoother look, they don't gap because you can choose how tightly you tie them
Match Russian Pointe shoes very nicely

Ballet Family 10/18/2017GREAT RIBBON!
Won't go back to the traditional satin ribbon, even though knot keepers works well too. These stretch ribbons match most pointe shoe colors. The knot holds extremely well, so when you take your pointe shoes off, just use one of your hairpins to undo it. Love these!!

I was very disappointed in these ribbons. They are very thin and gray very easily even after you singe the ends. When I tied a my pointe shoes I couldn't get the knot undone I had to cut it. These ribbons simply aren't strong enough to help hold your shoe in place.
Thank you for letting us know what you experienced with these ribbons and we apologize for any inconvenience. One of our Customer Service representatives will contact you to rectify the situation.

These ribbons are perfect for me and my pointe shoes! They are stretchy, giving my tendons a break. But they are also super supportive. I would recommend these ribbons to anyone. They are the perfect balance between comfort and support whilst still looking like regular ribbons from stage. (There are more of a matte look, but you can't really tell from stage) If you are having any tendon pain, or you simply just want to try something new, DO IT! You will be amazed at the comfort level this product leaves!

I am returning to pointe work after many years away. I am so delighted with these ribbons! They make it so easy to get my ribbons tied without sags and gaps. They support my ankles and allow me to move. I highly recommend them. Plus, the pale pink color almost perfectly matchs the color of my Russian Pointe Muse shoes!

My daughter tried these last year and has not gone back. They are very durable (we can get to use with 2 pairs of shoes) But most importantly, they helped to alleviate the pain she was in due to an injury. We pair them up with Freeds and or Bloch pointe shoes and have not had any trouble matching the pink color.

TinyDancer0608/17/2015AMAZING PRODUCT
These ribbons are absolutely amazing. I used to use satin ribbons, but I switched to these about a year ago and it made a world of a difference. They don't come loose, the ends don't fray, and they don't put pressure on your ankle or tendons. They look great from the stage. A few girls use these and everyone else uses satin, but you can't tell from the stage. They match my pointe shoes very well. These ribbons are my #1 favorite.

Lovediscountdance05/22/2015I'M IMPRESSED!
In the past, I haven't given a second thought to my ribbons, but these are so incredibly better that traditional ones, that now the look and feel of my pointe shoe ribbons is top priority. These are so incredibly supportive, when I sew them at my arch rather than my ankle, I can actually feel the ribbons pulling the shoe to my foot. I don't suffer from tendinitis in my Achilles, but I can see that these would be extra helpful for that. They match my current Russian Pointes in color much better than pink satiny ribbons, and they are slip free. Overall a wonderful product, I wonder why everyone doesn't wear them?

shelly8809/02/2014THE BEST!
I only use these ribbons! I like them at least 1000 times more than standard ribbons and the kind with the elastic insert.
These are stretchy throughout, quick to tie, they never come untied or get baggy, and have matched every make/model of shoe I've purchased (even GM, but I do order the Luxe satin).
I always cross my elastics, and I just double up these ribbons with the ends of the elastic and it hides the elastic nicely.

SarahSophia06/20/2014FANTASTIC LITTLE MUST-HAVE!
I have the hardest time fitting pointe shoes, much less keeping them on and comfortable. FYI, I have medium-low arches, short tapered Greek toes, narrow compressible feet, Egyptian heels, and flexible ankles. Everything about my feet is delicate and extreme, and as they strengthen my shoe needs change weekly. All that said, versatility in the area holding my shoes on is very important! Normal ribbons don't hurt my achilles, but they dig in badly everywhere else because I need them to be so tight...and hence also interfere with what ankle flexibility I do have. THESE ribbons are the PERFECT solution for my woes. They are strong, soft, and allow the ankle articulation I need. They also match the strange white-pink of Russian Pointes, which is what I'm currently wearing, but don't look bad with other shoes because they generally just blend with my tights. EXCELLENT PRODUCT.

AnotherBunhead05/25/2014COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT THEM
I started buying the regular primasoft stretch ribbons after getting Achilles tendinitis several years ago. They are great, but they show "picks" really easily. These offer the same or even a little better support and they don't seem to get unsightly "picks" quite as easily.
These are my new favorite ribbons. Ever since I started using them, my achilles tendinitis pain has lessened dramatically. They're a pretty color, and they still give me enough support to keep my shoe on my foot while still being flexible enough to keep pressure off of my achilles.
My only qualms would be that they run very easily if you snag them on anything, and I wish the ribbon was a little bit longer. Because there's not a lot of it, I sewed these onto my shoes in a loop (like some people do for the elastics on soft shoes) and it works just fine; plus, I don't have to worry about the knot digging into my ankle or the ends poking out. Overall, a great product that's worth your money.

molsmama03/11/2014VERY NICE RIBBONS - DURABLE,
These are nice ribbons that are not too tight. I have problems with my Achilles tendons and these support them very well. Be mindful of not tying them too tightly and they are very comfortable. It is nice to be able to adjust my toe padding without taking off the entire pointe shoe. These are the only ribbons I use now. It would be nice if they were a bit longer.

natashia10/07/2013MY FAVORITE!!
I've tried bunheads flexers and Gaynor Minden regular ribbons. I did prefer flexers, and wanted to try something new. This is way better than flexers!!! I feel very supported and it's very easy to tie and untie. I have easier time tying/untying these than regular ribbons. I will only buy these from now on! :)

ballerinemma05/26/2013EXCELLENT
These are great even if you don't have tendon problems!
I love these ribbons. I've been using them for quite a while, and used regular ribbons for quite a while before that. Before, I was having problems with my achilles when I did pointe. These (and a little bit of stretching the tendon) made that go away! I also used to spend time trying to find the right balance between too tight and too loose. I'd have to flex and pointe my foot and make sure my ribbons were positioned perfectly. Because they stretch, this is not a problem at all with these. You just tie them however and go. Additionally, because they are elastic, it is much easier to tuck your ribbons in and have them not fall out. The elastic holds the extra ribbon snug to your ankle instead of having it fall out a few times each class. I still tape it onstage just to be extra extra sure, but they very rarely fall out.
These are a little tricky to untie. I love that you can tie them quickly, but it is easy to get the knots too tight. However, there is a solution that my friend taught me and works perfectly. All you have to do is take a hairpin out of your bun (I use the bunheads ones that almost everyone uses and they work for this but I'd imagine any pin would work), and then poke the end through the knot and pull it undone.
Another benefit of these is that if you need to get your pointe shoes off quickly, you can just pull them off and leave the ribbons tied and deal with those later. They come off in about one second instead of having to untie them like you do with regular ribbons. And when I need to adjust my toepad, I can simply shift the shoe forward and off my foot, access the toepad, and move my shoe back on without the ribbons becoming untied.
These can run and fray on the sides pretty easily, but it doesn't affect the performance of the pointe shoe, especially since most die pretty quickly so there isn't much time for the ribbons to get messed up.
I originally tried the regular version, not the extra strength. The color is bizarrely shiny, as opposed to a nice matte pink on these. These are also a bit stronger. I definitely recommend these ribbons!
I cant get away with straight out ribbons or the hybrid ones that have a combination of ribooin and elastic. For as often that I dance, I immediately feel a pull on my tendons when I use those
These ribbons that are pure elastic are wonderful. I can tighten them as I need them and yet they give me the elasticity I need so as not to constrict my tendons. I have had tendonitis before (when I started pointe) and do not want those again.
Perfect elastic for beginners and advanced users alike....

DancerEngineer03/04/2013TAKES GETTING USED TO
I love the extension ribbon. I had problems with traditional ribbons before and these really help relieve the pressure on my tendon. The downside is they tend to fling away from you if you don't hold them the right way while tying your shoes. It takes some getting used to but they make hiding knots a breeze. After switching from traditional ribbons to these, I had to start sewing elastic in my shoes to keep the shoe on my heel. I like them better than the other flexible ribbons which didn't work well with my abnormally skinny ankles.

Before my pointe shoe ribbions would gap and look really bad. I also had pain in the back of my heel. With these ribbions I can stay on pointe longer and work harder. They are really strechy and soft.
just be careful and don't tie the knot supper tight because its hard to un-tie with out creating a run in the ribbions.

Is that enough ribbon for both pointe shoes?
Any elastic you recommend?
This item is 2 yards in length. Please contact customer service directly for specific product questions and recommendations. - DDS Customer Service (10/13/2014)
For me it is fine for a pair of pointe shoes, but depending on your ankle is could be too little. Just get two and if you turn out to only need one, you can use the other one for another pair. - Livichow (11/24/2014)
KiKi 03/19/2014 Age: 17 or under Is this better than ribbon with elastic in it?
I was looking in to Bloch Elastorib Ribbon and I was wondering which people liked better and why?
The Elastorib is merely a ribbon with elastic, while the extra support ribbon is an extension stretch ribbon that is meant to to increase range of motion and heel release, it will also reduce tendon trauma. - DDS Customer Service (03/20/2014)
Yes yes yes!
I used the Bloch elastic-insert ribbons for a few years until I discovered the primasoft.
Why these are better:
1. Simpler to use- you don't have to line up the stretchy part with any particular part of your ankle because the whole ribbon is stretchy.
2. The all-over stretch actually supports your foot/ankle a little bit (just be careful not to pull them too tight!)
3. No seams on the ribbon so no spots to potentially rub.
4. Super durable. I can move mine to several pairs of shoes before they look to ratty to keep using. - Anotherbunhead (05/25/2014)
I'm not as much a fan of the 'hybrid' ribbon because it's more difficult to customize in the right spot. However, I have strong, flexible but straight ankles and generally dislike regular ribbons due to the overall constriction. If you have very bendy or powerful feet, I don't know that the full elastic ribbons would be the best idea, as they may allow a little too much articulation in the ankle. You could always try a combination of both! - Sarahsophia (06/21/2014)
I definitely prefer these to the Bloch ribbon! The Bloch ribbon is probably fine, but I hate having to spend so much time worrying if I'm sewing the ribbon on at the right length to sit perfectly at the achilles. - Shelly88 (09/03/2014)
