My daughter has worn these for years. She is finally done growing. We used to outgrow before they wore out, now her foot seems done and they wear out in about 12 to15months, dancing in them in Russian Character class an hour or so per week year round, about 50 hours. the straps have never broken for us. The shoes just eventually get scuffed and too soft. Considering how intense the class is, 50 to60 hrs per pair of shoes is great. The brand has always fit her actual street shoe size, adult women's.
I have had these shoes for 2 years now and they are starting to break down. They are as comfortable as character shoes can be and the heel height is perfect for traditional character dancing. The bottoms became completely worn down after about a year, so they were a little bit slippery. However, I have no complaints and they are a great first character shoe.
My daughter needed a character shoe for the HS musical. She is a dancer in need of character shoes. Her foot is still growing so since she will probably need another pair before too long, we wanted to get good shoes without breaking the bank. These are perfect! They are comfortable, look great on, and are fairly priced.
We have two recommendations:
1 - MAKE SURE TO BREAK THEM IN before wearing! This is probably true of many of these types of shoes - the SOLES ARE SLIPPERY - she slipped on stage TWICE on the first day because she didn't have time to break them in!
2 - As most other reviewers recommended, order 1/2 size up.
Other than that, great shoe. Will have to see how durable they are.
The quality is very good, however, the size runs VERY small. I will have to return these shoes for credit and buy another size larger. I already went 1/2 size larger than normal for me and still too small.
I'm an active high school musical theatre student, and character shoes are a must-have for musicals that require dancing. These are not only easy to dance in (1 1/2 in heels are the lowest I would wear and the most comfortable), but are also very cute and stylish. They are very sturdy and although I have only had them for two weeks, I can tell that they will last a long time. The man made leather is soft and flexible, the sole strong but cushioned, and they look so pretty on my feet! The spot that I feel a little uncomfortable pressure on is the ball of the foot; the foamy cushioning there tends to go down with wear. My only other complaint is that the toe area is a little narrow so they feel kinda small, and I would recommend stretching them out a bit with thicker socks while you break them in. Speaking of breaking in, they did break in pretty quickly; I just wore them around the house for a few days, and soon enough, they became good and scuffed on the bottom - I suggest a little shuffling/turning on a hard floor for a few minutes to kickstart that. Without a break in period, they are super slippery, so be careful! but that is expected with a character shoe, or any shoe for that matter. Thanks DiscountDance and SoDanca for another great product! I am a street size 5.5-6.5, my foot being about 9 in long, and a size 6m fit just a tad tight, but definitely bearable.
I bought these shoes for a dance event and having never worn heels higher than a half inch I was surprised at how easily I was able to get into the swing, as it were, of wearing these. The heel is not too high that they are uncomfortable and not too thin; so not so much danger of twisting an ankle. They are very pretty and pivot nicely as well as making even the ugliest foot look elegant! I would say to any one as to sizing; that the shoe does run extremely small so depending on the range of shoe sizes that fit you comfortably, pick the largest one and then raise it by a half size. For example, depending on the brand of shoe, I wear any where from a 7 to a 9. I got 9 and a half and they fit perfectly! The size issue is difficult to gauge online so I don't blame the company for that. But I think if you follow the above sizing method you should be set! Overall; unless you dance for a profession, in which case you'd need something sturdier, these shoes are and excellent choice!
The shoes were great! After the third day of our show running they started to shed on the inside, but other than that they were amazing. They were really comfortable to wear and satisfactory. I'm not sue how long they'll last but if you need a shoe quickly, this is the right shoe. I ordered my shoe on a Friday and our opening night was the next Friday. With the shipping my shoes arrived on Thursday, so I had one day to spare! XD I love the shoes.
This shoe runs quite small. I wear a women's size 8 street shoe, but an 8 1/2 is still tight. Another time I would get an 8 1/2 wide or maybe a size 9. Otherwise, the quality and comfort seem quite good.
I had one of those and really didnīt like it, it doesnīt give any support when you are dancing and my feet was going out of the shoes when I stretched those... I almost turned my ankle when I had to turn with the heel on character class because the shoes didnīt give me support enough... I donīt recommend someone to buy those, they are not good when you need to use it a lot...

Do you have any sizing charts? I wear a double wide 10.5 women US,I'm uncertain if this would work
Hi, thank you for your inquiry. Sadly, we do not have a more in depth sizing chart. If you wear a double wide these might not be wide enough for you but unlike Capezio and some of our Bloch character shoes, they do not run narrow. - DDS Customer Service (06/10/2019)
